About Japanese Head Spa
A Japanese head spa is a scalp and head treatment that grew out of Japanese hair salons. Instead of a quick shampoo, the scalp is cleansed slowly and thoroughly, then massaged with a patient rhythm across the scalp, temples, neck and shoulders. Warm steam and warm water keep the experience soft and enveloping.
Guests often describe it as a mix of facial, scalp care and massage, all while lying back with their eyes closed. It is not a haircut or a hair color service.
What happens in the session
- Settle in. You recline and talk through your scalp, your hair and what you would like.
- Deep scalp cleanse. A careful cleanse with warm water and steam.
- Slow head massage. Rhythmic movements over the scalp, temples, neck and shoulders.
- Rest. A few quiet minutes before you sit up.
