Should you take a hot shower after a massage?
A warm shower sounds like the perfect finish. For most people it is fine, with a few easy habits that make the afterglow last longer.
Warm is usually fine
After a massage the muscles are relaxed and the skin is warm. A comfortably warm shower fits that feeling for most guests. Very hot water on already relaxed muscles can leave some people lightheaded, so keep the temperature pleasant rather than steaming.
Wait a little first
Many people prefer to wait an hour or so. Oil or lotion from the session can stay on the skin and keep it soft, and a slower evening helps the relaxed feeling last. If you plan to drive, give yourself a few minutes in the lobby first.
Easy habits for the rest of the day
- Drink a glass of water, and another later on.
- Keep the evening quiet if you can.
- Stretch gently rather than hard.
- If something feels sore the next morning, tell your therapist at the next visit so the pressure can be adjusted.

Can I swim after a massage?
